HYDERABAD: Chikkadpally police booked

former Congress minister D Sridhar Babu

under the

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances

(NDPS) Act for allegedly

planting ganja in the house

of a

TRS leader

at Odedu village of Peddapalli district.

On October 20, Kishan Reddy, a TRS worker and husband of MPTC member Kavita, lodged a complaint with police alleging that Sudarshan, former sarpanch of Odedu in collusion with Sridhar Babu hatched a plan to frame him in a drugs case and planted 10 kg of ganja in his house. Kishan Reddy also furnished a DVD containing telephonic conversation between Sudarshan and Sridhar Babu discussing the conspiracy. Kishan Reddy alleged that the conspiracy was hatched at Sridhar Babu's house in Domalguda.

Kishan Reddy said that he came to know about the voice clip through Odedu sarpanch Ashok. “After planting ganja in the cattle shed of my house, Sudarshan and a minor boy, got scared of repercussions and removed it later. The boy narrated the whole story to his parents and, when they reprimanded him, he said that Sudarshan had planned the conspiracy.

The boy played the conversation recorded in Sudarshan’s phone before his parents and they showed the voice conversation to village sarpanch Ashok who in turn alerted me,” Kishan Reddy told police.

“Based on the complaint, we have registered a case against Sudarshan, Sridhar Babu and the juvenile under the NDPS Act,” Chikkadpally inspector M Sudarshan said. Police took Sudarashan into custody for questioning and based on the information provided by them, Sridhar Babu might be called for questioning. “After gathering more evidence, we will have to send the voice recording to FSL for authenticity,” central zone DCP D Joel Davis said.
