police arrested a 20-year-old engineering student for harassing a 20-year-old woman by posting her morphed obscene photos on a photo and video-sharing social networking platform.
N Akshay, the accused, is a student of a college in Narapally. In November 2019, the mother of the 20-year-old girl lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police, alleging that an unknown accused had posted her daughter’s morphed obscene photos on the social networking site.
Police analysed the details of the account of the accused. He was arrested from his house in Lalaguda on Friday. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had sent a friend request to the girl from a fake ID on the social networking site to conceal his identity.
After the victim accepted his request, he saved her personal photos and morphed them with nude photos downloaded from the Internet. “The accused made one of the morphed photos of the girl as the display picture of his fake account and even sent messages to her from that account. Subsequently, the accused also posted more morphed photos of the girl from his fake account and even made video calls to her. The accused deleted the fake account as she rejected his calls,” said the police.
Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
