Elvis’ followers file complaint against JAC protesters
Hyderabad: Following protests on Sunday over alleged remarks made by Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson on Christian clergy during a recent speech, the MLA’s followers have filed a complaint with Gopalpuram police against the protesters on Monday.
The protesters led by the Telangana Christian joint action committee (JAC) had burnt Stephenson’s effigy alleging that he had questioned the church hierarchy.

In reaction to the protest, followers of the MLA formed filed a complaint, signed by the MLA’s aide Malcolm Taylor, stating that protesters had trespassed church premises and held a dharna. “One Gopu Bal Reddy and other miscreants have trespassed into St. Mary’s Basilica, Secunderabad on September 22 and shouted slogans against Mr Elvis Stephenson. They have desecrated the sanctity of the church premises by burning an effigy while the service was going on and hurting the sentiments of the entire Christian community,” Taylor alleged.
