Eluru court sentences man to 51 years for sexual assault on minor

Eluru: District Pocso Court Judge Mrs Uma Sunanda sentenced a 51 year-old man for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The judge has also ordered for the payment of compensation of Rs Three lakh compensation for the victim. Eluru district SP K Pratap Siva Kishore has congratulated Court Monitoring Cell to extend cooperation to the court.

The minor girl was staying with her grandmother in Denduluru mandal as her mother died and father was addicted to alcohol. On Oct 8, 2022, the victim girl went to a shop to nearby shop to purchase snacks and the accused Nunna Anthony Raj forcibly took the girl into his house raped her. The grandmother started to search for the victim after some time. When she has asked the shop owner, he told her that he saw the girl with Anthony Raj.

The victim’s grandmother enquired her on what happened and she told her that Anthony Raj raped her. The victim’s grandmother lodged a complaint with Denduluru police station and the then Sub-Inspector I Veerraju registered a case under sections 376(AB) IPC Act section 5(M) and section 6 of Pocso Act. Women police station DSP K.V Satyannarayana filed charge sheet. Public Prosecutors Brahmayya and D.V Ramanjeneyulu argued on behalf of the victim.
