The accused who went out for a morning walk on the day of Enforcement Directorate searches, saw police jeeps and fled from Champai. ED has briefed the ministry of home affairs on the smuggling happening on Mizo-Burma border.
Devesh Chandra Srivastava the Mizoram director general of police said , “Enforcement Directorate team came here. Whatever help required is being providing from our end. We will provide all assistance regarding Lucas to Enforcement Directorate.”
Enforcement Directorate had frozen 139 bank accounts of the human hair smuggler and exporters.
“There is 16-kilometre zone between Mizoram and Myanmar which is used by the smugglers to smuggle gold, beetle nut, human hair and other goods. The accused Lucas has no passport. He is involved in smuggling of human hair. On the day we searched his house he went out for walk. Perhaps he saw our jeeps and fled,” said an Enforcement Directorate official. Lucas has relatives in both Mizoram and Myanmar.
Enforcement Directorate seized Rs 1.2 crore during recent search.
Enforcement Directorate had undertaken done search operations on February 9 and 10. Human hair is undervalued and sent out of the country and also smuggled without any bills.
The Enforcement Directorate booked Nayla Family Exports Private Limited promoted by Mohammed Ibrahim Patel and another director previously a Myanmar national. Enforcement Directorate identified companies such as St Mary’s Gem Industries,
