HYDERABAD: An auto driver, who was dropping 13 students home, was caught by the Malakpet traffic police for driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday. Shockingly, his blood alcohol content (BAC) was found to be a staggering 246 mg/100 ml against the permissible 30 mg/100 ml.
The students of St Joseph Public School, King Koti, were heading home in the auto of Mohammed Osman in the evening.
Police stopped the three-wheeler crammed with students near Malakpet water tank. They found auto driver Osman was in an inebriated state and posed great danger to the lives of the students. Immediately, Oman was taken into custody and his vehicle was seized.
Malakpet inspector (Traffic) Venkat Reddy said Osman was not stable when he took the breathalyser test. Meanwhile at LB Nagar, a schoolteacher, who was caught driving under the influence of alcohol, made a home guard sit in his car on the pretext of parking the vehicle to a side and took him on a ride while other policemen looked on dumbfounded on Friday night.
The LB Nagar traffic police said that teacher Kanaka Raju, who was driving his WagonR, was stopped at Big Bazar by home guard Suresh and he was found to be in an inebriated state. When Suresh told him to park his vehicle to a side and meet the SI, Raju asked the HG to get in.
"Raju instead of stopping the car, drove it away from the location even as Suresh was screaming for help. Some youths and policemen chased Raju's car and intercepted him at Moosarambagh. He was then forced to give the breathalyser test. He was immediately arrested," LB sub-inspector Yerlappa.
