Drugs will destroy lives, keep away, Prakasam SP Damodar calls students
ONGOLE: Stating that consumption of narcotics will surely ruin the future of the youth, Prakasam district superintendent of police (SP), AR Damodar asked the youth to keep away from evil habits. He said that any adventures with regard to consumption of drugs will not only destroy their future but also cause massive trauma to the family members. SP inaugurated a 5k-run jointly organized by a global IT firm of Prakasam district, TechBulls and Rise Krishna Sai engineering college here on Sunday. Hundreds of students and locals participated in the event. The run was organized to create awareness among the people about cancer prevention and wearing helmets.
Addressing the students, SP Damodar asked people to be aware of the dangerous effects of cancer and undergo regular medical checkups to tackle it in the early stages. “Cancer is mainly caused by changes in food habits and lifestyle, drinking alcohol, and eating tobacco products. More and more people are getting affected by cancer due to the changed lifestyles. Women are more prone to breast cancer. However, cancer can be prevented with early diagnosis. Cancer can be easily defeated if it is detected in the early stages and treated properly,” said SP. He said that no one would be spared if anyone was involved in usage or marketing of banned substances.
Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan emphasised that it is also important to take proper precautions along with taking nutritious food and regular physical exercise. He said that helmet is a protective shield to save lives. He wanted the youth to release the danger of not wearing the helmet while driving two-wheelers. TechBulls chairman N Bhaskara Reddy said that they were overwhelmed with the response from the youth in Ongole and decided to continue the awareness programmes in an aggressive manner. He said that they would make the 5-k walk an annual feature to create awareness about cancer, drug prevention and helmet usage.
“Everyone should stay away from banned drugs. Don’t spoil your life under the influence of drugs as it will take away the light of a hundred years of life for momentary happiness. The youth should build a golden life without getting used to a healthy life. Students should also remember the hardships of your parents and study with discipline,” Bhaskara Reddy suggested.
The run started from the mini stadium and ended at the mini stadium without taking a U-turn at Miriyala Palem. The district collector A Tamim Ansaria presented the rewards to the winners in the 5k-walk. The organisers presented Rs. 20,000 as first prize, Rs.15000 as second prize, 10,000 to the third place. Santha Nuthala Padu MLA BN Vijay Kumar, Rise college MD Bharat, rise college secretary and correspondent Siddha Hanumantha Rao, additional SP K Nageswara Rao, DSP Srinivasa Rao, inspectors Raghavendra, Srinivasa Rao, Srikanth, Ajay, Panduranga Rao and others were present.
