HYDERABAD: A patient lodged a complaint against an ayurvedic doctor in LB Nagar accusing the latter of collecting 50,000, for allegedly using superstitious methods, with an assurance to cure his ailments.

According to LB Nagar police, the complainant said that he approached the ayurvedic doctor for treatment of headache and nervous system.

"Instead of prescribing medicines, the doctor handed me lemon and ash. Also, on an amavasya, that happened to fall on Friday, the doctor took me into the pooja room, chanted hymns and gave a list of groceries to purchase for carrying out a ritual. He then collected 50,000 cash," the complainant told police.

Perplexed, the complainant approached police immediately and lodged a complaint.

Meanwhile, police said they received the complaint and the allegations are being verified, as they did not get any complaints against the doctor earlier.
