Divit's kin pledge his eyes to LV Prasad hospital

HYDERABAD: The family of Divit Sharma, 6, who died in a freak accident at Janapriya Utopia, a gated community in Rajendranagar, have pledged his eyes to LV Prasad Eye Hospital. "The family pledged his eyes," said Rajendranagar inspector G Suresh. The boy was playing on a cement bench which toppled on him, leading to his death on Thursday evening.
Residents of the gated community conducted a candlelight vigil on Friday night in memory of the boy.Overcome by shock, residents demolished many concrete benches to avoid future accidents.
The residents also held a meeting to help each other and created a WhatsApp group. "No one came to help him. Only the boys who were playing with him helped his brother Navdeep lift the bench," recalled B Laxmi, a resident of the gated community.
