HYDERABAD: Mr Tea owner
Naveen Reddy has confessed to kidnapping BDS student
Vaishali from her home in Adibatla on December 9, police said on Thursday. He, however, said that he has not married Vaishali.
Naveen was picked up from Goa on Tuesday and is currently lodged in Cherlapalli Cental Prison. Cops have sought eight-day custody to quiz him further. "I made my associates drink four cartons of beer before the attack on Vaishali's house,"
Naveen said in the police confession report.
Cops said that Naveen told his associates that he had married Vaishali in Bapatla district on August 4, 2021, and showed civil case documents in this regard. But cops said he confessed that he had never married Vaishali.
He told cops he had discontinued pursuing CA while in Vijayawada and later completed BCom via correspondence before starting Mr Tea in 2020. Naveen said he met Vaishali in February 2021 at a sports academy in Bonguluru. He said that Vaishali did not agree for marriage initially.
Naveen said her parents did not agree even after he approached them through their village sarpanch. Subsequently, he leased land in front of their house for 30,000 monthly rent and set up a godown for his business. A case was also booked against him in September for creating a ruckus outside Vaishali's house on Ganesh immersion day.
