Diamond couple Danam weighs Rs 7 crore, more assets

has Rs 3.75 crore worth diamonds and jewellery. Danam Nagendar’s assets are now worth ₹41 crore, while his assets were only Rs 17 crore in 2014, according to an affidavit filed by him while filing his nomination papers on Saturday. Another interesting aspect of his affidavit is that he has liability of Rs 40.7 crore.


Nagendar owns 12,897 carats of diamonds, 80 tolas of gold, 10 kg of silver, while his wife has 1,350 carats of diamond and 180 tolas (1.8 kg) of gold. His movable assets were worth Rs 23 crore and his wife Rs 4.5 crore. Nagendar owns immovable assets worth Rs 4.5 crore and his wife Rs 9 crore.

Nagendar’s income, according to the affidavit, is Rs 15.7 lakh per annum, while his wife Anitha got Rs 6.5 lakh income in 2017-18. Interestingly, Nagendar declared he is a politician, social worker and businessmen and gets pension as ex-MLA, rental income and ‘other sources’. His wife gets rental, agriculture and interest income.

The former MLA was the director of Bhagyanagar Infrastructure Limited and has equity shares of Rs 1.6 crore of the infra company. Nagendar mentioned that Anil Kumar Kishan owes him ₹25 lakh, Anil Kumar Kasaraneni Rs 1.9 crore and MPS Indane Rs 1.23 crore. Incidentally, Anil Kumar Kasaraneni is the director of Vasundhara Diamond Roof Company.

The TRS nominee has a liability of Rs 28.8 crore to Bhagyanagar Infra, Prime Properties, Siddarth Infra Tech and Srihari Developers Private Limited and Rs 1.8 crore to AMR global Industries, N Krishna Mohan. Westland Infra Con Pvt Ltd.

Nagendar revealed, in his affidavit, that three criminal cases, including an attempt to murder case in 2013, voluntarily causing hurt, unlawful assembly, illegal confinement and criminal intimidation and other sections of IPC, were booked against him at Banjara Hills police station When contacted, Nagendar was not available for comment. One of the directors of Bhagyanagar Infra, Enugula Vinod Kumar, told TOI, ”Danam Nagendar asked me to be a director, so I am there. I don’t know much about his assets and business.”
