HYDERABAD:
Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay was on Tuesday arrested at the Padaytara camp in Pamnur, near station Ghanpur, while sitting on a Dharma Deeksha.
Sanjay had called for a protest after cases were filed against BJP activists for protesting in front of MLC K Kavita's residence on Monday.
The BJP leader questioned attempted murder cases filed against BJP men for protesting against Kavita for her alleged role in the Delhi excise policy controversy.
A tense atmosphere prevailed near Sanjay's Deeksha camp as BJP activists attempted to prevent police from arresting him.
According to a BJP source, police have been stationed in large numbers near Deekhs' camp since Monday night.
Before Sanjay was arrested, several senior leaders, including BJP affairs incharge Tarun Chug, called him.
According to police, they had to take Sanjay into custody because they fear the law and order situation would deteriorate and that TRS and BJP activists will clash during the Padayatra.
