Delay in declaring the winner of the vice president's (VP) post following the recently held students union election at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) raked up a fresh row on Monday with various student groups protesting in front of the administrative building.

HYDERABAD: Delay in declaring the winner of the vice president's (VP) post following the recently held students union election at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) raked up a fresh row on Monday with various student groups protesting in front of the administrative building.
The result for the students union election was declared by the administration on September 24.

Although the Alliance for Social Justice (ASJ) candidate Lunavath Naresh,student of school of medical sciences, secured highest votes of 1,885 against Apoorv Jain of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Other Backward Class Forum, he was not declared as the vice president due to a last moment grievance filed over alleged non-compliance of attendance requirement him.
After going through the complaint, the grievance committee had nullified the candi dature of Naresh. The admi nistration also declared fresh elections for the VP post.
However, protesting stu dents alleged that the ABVP tampered and manipulated the ASJ candidate's atten dance record. Students block ed the administrative buil ding as they demanded a pro be into the matter.
Following student pro tests, the UoH vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile constituted a committee to look into the matter. The committee is to be headed by Prof Aloka Parasher Sen as the chairperson and Murali Banovath, Meera Padhy and assistant registrar (exams) as members. The committee is expected to submit its report within 10 days.
