HYDERABAD: Former Union minister B Dattatreya came down heavily on the project design of the Kaleshwaram project on Sunday.

He demanded chief minister

K Chandrasekhar Rao

begin consultations with opposition, technical experts and officials. He said that the CM was treating Kaleshwaram as a personal project and asked him to explain why the water was being diverted towards low areas when rainfall is heavy near Maner.

Addressing a press conference at BJP state office, he said that the CM’s lack of foresight on Kaleshwaram project will lead to a curse on Telangana.

“3 TMC of water was released to Annaram barrage from Kaleshwaram project. We had released a report on the projects to be constructed on the Godavari river, but current plans will lead to reversals of lift irrigation. In fact water is being sent back instead of being lifted,” he said. Dattatreya added that tribals were being forced to visit private hospitals due to lack of facilities in government hospitals.
