hyderabad: the foundation stone for establishing a cultural village and a tourist centre, with all amenities for the tourists as part of the taramati baradari project at ibrahim bagh near the golconda fort, was laid by tourism minister t srinivas yadav on monday. after the ceremony, the minister said the monument would be a centre for culture, and the entire work would be completed in a year.
apart from restoration, the entire seven-acre area will be developed by setting up a semi-covered auditorium block, an open air theatre with a seating capacity of 1,500, a restaurant block, vehicle parking space and cottages, he said. considering the problems of artists, including veteran artists who had failed to receive pensions, he assured that a part of the revenue from tourism will be set aside for their welfare. constructed in memory of the musician taramati and danseuse premavathi, the two sisters who had enthralled the court of abdulla qutub shah, the taramati baradari pavilion will be a centre for art and learning with a research centre in the complex, said veteran artist nataraja ramakrishna. one festival will be held in each quarter of the year at the pavilion, in consultation with nataraja ramakrishna who had inspired the work, said ap tourism development corporation chairman and managing director c anjaneya reddy.
