HYDERABAD: The Good Friday observed in the city began early in the morning as hundreds of men, women and children thronged at St Joseph's Cathedral, Gunfoundry, to have a glimpse of the re-enactment of the Christ's Crucifixion on the way to the cross.

as each scene unfolded, it moved the audience to tears. after crucifixion when the body was handed over to mother mary, some stood choked at the sight. it was followed by prayer of veneration and service in the evening. at st philomina church, boiguda special prayers and holy mass was held. the priest delivered the sermon. sister nicholas said it was on this fateful day that jesus suffered on the way to the cross from early morning till the crucifixion at mount calvary at around 3 pm. after crucifixion darkness descends and it is believed that the dead come alive as jesus promises that he would be back again, the sister said.
