according to narayana rao, who is working as a telugu translator in the assembly, goverdhan reddy even vowed on the floor of the house that he would get rao arrested by the anti-corruption bureau (acb). refuting the acb charges that he is a corrupt crorepati, narayana rao said: i have not made money overnight nor have i made it through any illegal means. he said the only house he owned was the one on plot no 17/c/a, which he purchased in 1980 from the society for rs 13,500 and had built a house there at a cost of rs 3 lakh. he said the other properties listed by the acb belonged to his relatives, who purchased them between the years 1993 and 1994 through legal means. narayana rao, however, admitted that his daughter and a few close relatives had grabbed government land and applied for its regularisation. he said the acb had earlier registered a case against him for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income, but dropped the charges after he produced evidence to the contrary. he said the acb had also blown out of proportion the number of vehicles owned by him. he said that he owns only a 1995-model tata sumo, which was bought through a 100 per cent finance scheme. the opel astra, he said, was his daughter's and was also taken under a finance scheme, while the maruti zen was his son-in-law's. the 1979-model mercedes benz car, which was found at his house was his friend's and does not cost more than rs 2 lakh in the current market, he added.
