CPI veteran Sudhakar Reddy’s body to be donated for research

Hyderabad: The body of former CPI national general secretary and two-time Nalgonda MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, who passed away on Friday night, will be donated to the Gandhi Medical College for medical research on Sunday. The 83-year-old died at a hospital in the city after being admitted for illness. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy directed that the last rites be performed with state honours. As there will not be a funeral because the body is being donated to the medical college, the state honours will be provided during a procession, which will be taken out from Makhdoom Bhavan at Himayatnagar to the medical college, on Sunday. Prior to that, the body will be brought from the hospital in Gachibowli to Makhdoom Bhavan, where the public can pay their last respects. Expressing grief over the death of Sudhakar Reddy, Revanth Reddy conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. He recalled that Sudhakar Reddy, who hailed from Nalgonda district, rose to prominence as a national-level leader, actively participating in leftist movements and several people's struggles. "The nation has lost a remarkable leader who left his unique mark on Indian politics," he said.The CPI national general secretary recalled that in what was ‘Comrade Sudhakar Reddy's last public appearance', he inaugurated the renovated CPI Telangana state council office, Makhdoom Bhavan, in his presence.
