A GHMC corporator, who is an associate of Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao, was arrested on Friday by the Narayanguda police for allegedly manhandling a BJP activist on the polling day at Nrupatunga college.

HYDERABAD: A GHMC corporator, who is an associate of Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao, was arrested on Friday by the Narayanguda police for allegedly manhandling a BJP activist on the polling day at Nrupatunga college. However, police are yet to arrest Hanumantha Rao, who is also an accused in the same case.
Narayanguda sub-inspector Naresh said Diddi Rambabu was arrested along with another accused Satyanarayana.

On April 30, V Hanumantha Rao, who is the contesting Congress candidate from Amberpet constituency, visited the polling both at Nrupatunga college along with Rambabu and Satyanarayana. It was at this time that they came across BJP activist Sagar and allegedly roughed him up, accusing him of visiting to booth to indulge in malpractice.
Based on the complaint by Sagar, a case was registered against the trio under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
