Following a report published in the Times of India on how the ruling TRS MLA was roaming freely without adhering to the protocols on Friday, the district collector

Sandeep Kumar Jha

has instructed district medical and health officer (DM&HO) to see that the MLA, his family members and other people who he may have come in contact with should undergo medical check-ups and home quarantine themselves for 14 days.

The DM&HO told the MLA that keeping in view of the prevailing situation and as per the instructions of the government, he should be under 14 days of home quarantine and to not attend any public meeting and gatherings.

RTI activists, Harish of Sirpur and Sudhir of Jalagam, who brought the issue to the notice of the government said the government should ask the elected representatives and party leaders to follow the Covid-19 guidelines strictly.

The MLA’s actions drew flak from people as the elected representative, who should set an example to others, was violating the coronavirus protocols at a time when the Telangana government is on its toes combating the deadly coronavirus. People on social media criticised the health department and the district authorities for allowing the legislator move freely in his assembly constituency.
