HYDERABAD: A day after

Rachakonda police

announced Rs 1 lakh reward for those willing to provide clues about fugitive A Ravi Sekhar for kidnapping a B Pharmacy girl student, the accused visited a

fertiliser shop

in Damarcharla in Nalgonda district on Monday by posing himself as a vigilance and enforcement officer and demanding Rs 80,000.

Rachkonda police officials said Ravi took away Rs 80,000 from the

shop owner

by threatening to book a case against him, citing ‘violation’ of rules. “After gaining entry into the shop, Ravi told the shop owner that he came there to conduct searches,” cops said. When the shop owner approached police and described the man’s antecedents, cops realised that it was Ravi. Ravi, son of Subba Rao, 47, a native of Davalarugudem of Krishna district, posed as a doctor and kidnapped the B Pharmacy student on July 23 after convincing her kin that he will secure a job for her and took her to an undisclosed location. After the family members lodged a complaint, police began a hunt in AP, Telangana and Karnataka for Ravi but in vain
