Additional deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) K Raghuram Reddy said Mirza Mohammad Abdullah Baig alias Faheem, a resident of Tolichowki, and Mohammed Shareef, a resident of Nadeem colony, Tolichowki were arrested.
Shareef is a close associate of Salauddin, prime accused in the killing of tigress Sakhi. According to police, Mirza Abdullah Baig met Shareef and started operating as a gang. Mirza Baig has a dispute with his house owner Mohammadi Shaheen as she has been insisting that he vacate the house.
Six months ago, Shaheen left the residence fearing for her life as she was repeatedly threatened by Mirza. Knowing about the issue, Shaheen's brother Riyaz intervened and also made a vain attempt to kill Mirza in May 2010. Subsequently, Mirza bore a grudge against Riyaz and Shaheen.
Police said Mirza along with Shareef decided to procure a country-made pistol to kill Riyaz. On a tip-off, the two were nabbed.
