On August 14, 31-yearold Rama Krishna walked into the Narayanguda police station and introduced himself as an SPF constable, posted at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regional office at Saifabad, and lodged a complaint claiming that his wife Supriya went missing, Narayanguda inspector Bheem Reddy said. The couple got married a year ago and was staying at Vaishnav apartment in Himayatnagar.
Despite probing the case from various angles, Supriya was untraceable for almost a month. After ruling out various probabilities and on doubts raised by Supriya's par ents, police called Rama Krishna for questioning on Tuesday .
After intense grilling for more than a day , Rama Krishna finally spilled the beans and confessed that he murdered Supriya and disposed of the body in the forest area near Ananthagiri Hills. When police questioned him further, the SPF constable said around 10.30 am on August 6, he strangled Supriya to death after an argument between them. With the help of his childhood friend Pradeep, Rama Krishna stuffed Surpiya's body into a bag. Later, the duo took the bag on a twowheeler, kept between the rider and pillion-rider, to Vikarabad, police said. After reaching the forest area near Ananthagiri Hills, Rama Krishna and Pradeep made a two-foot deep trench, put the body in it and burnt it with petrol. Subsequently , they closed the trench, police said. “While going to the forest, Rama Krishna took the needed tools for digging besides one-and-half litre petrol. The location of the burial spot was almost half-a-kilometer inside the forest,“ the inspector said. After that, they both returned to the city.
Feigning ignorance, Rama Krishna lodged a missing complaint a week later. During the probe, police found that Supriya's friendship with her childhood friend Arun did not go down well with the SPF constable, who warned her to snap ties with him. However, the victim continued to be in touch with Arun.
On August 6, the couple had a tiff over the issue, which ultimately led to the murder. A joint team of the Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy police along with local revenue officials exhumed the body and postmortem examination was done at a local government hospital. Police booked a case against Rama Krishna under section 302 (murder) of the IPC and arrested him, while his friend Pradeep went absconding.
