VIJAYAWADA: First additional junior civil judge G Sushil Kumar Patrudu, who is also officiating as the principal junior civil judge here, issued notices to city commissioner of police N V Surendra Babu, Suryaraopet sub-inspector Jaya Surya, film lyricist Veturi Sundararama Murthy, his son Ravi and another person Sadananda Murthy in connection with a contempt of court petition filed against them.
Peddi Balarama Krishnaiah had filed the contempt of court petition in the principal junior civil judge’s court over a civil dispute pending in the court. The petitioner was a tenant in Veturi Sundararama Murthy’s house at Ramachandra Rao Street in Suryaraopet and had filed a civil case in the court alleging that Veturi was trying evict him. He had obtained an injunction against the eviction after Veturi approached the city police for help.
The petitioner also filed a writ petition in the High Court asking it to restrain the commissioner of police from interfering in the issue and accordingly the High Court passed an order restraining the commissioner of police from interfering in the case. However, ignoring the order, the Suryaraopet police locked the house and handed over the keys to Veturi. Following the police action, the petitioner filed a contempt of court petition in the principal junior civil judge’s court here.
