Congress will win big in Jubilee Hills bypoll: Ponnam

Hyderabad: BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday stated that the ruling Congress will repeat its Secunderabad Cantonment bypoll victory in the upcoming Jubilee Hills constituency by-election."People of the constituency should understand that only the state govt can sanction projects, release funds, and work for the development and welfare of the people. Today, we inaugurated the long-pending Mahila Bhavan in NBT Nagar, laid foundation stones for CC roads and expansion of nalas. Opposition parties can make promises, but they cannot implement large-scale development works," he said while addressing the gatherings in various slums and colonies of Jubilee Hills.Ponnam, accompanied by ministers G Vivek, D Anasuya Seethakka, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender and others, toured rain-affected areas in the constituency and assured residents that the inundation problem would be resolved by expanding nalas and laying additional stormwater pipelines."The previous BRS govt did nothing for the people of Jubilee Hills constituency, who are now seeking change. Only the ruling Congress can fulfil their aspirations," he further said.Speaking to reporters, Danam Nagender said that there is public demand for him to contest the bypoll, but he is not lobbying for a ticket. He also stated that he has submitted his explanation in response to the notice issued by assembly speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar regarding the disqualification petitions against 10 legislators, including himself, who are facing charges of defection.
