HYDERABAD: As expected, the disciplinary committee of the state
Congress issued a show cause notice to senior party leader from
Telangana and former minister T
Jeevan Reddy as to why action should not be taken against him for his anti-party activities. The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee on Thursday held at Gandhi Bhavan, the state party headquarters.
Chaired by Kanteti Satyanarayana Raju, the meeting took strong objection to the anti-party statements being issued by many leaders in public.
Having gone through the complaints received against Jeevan Reddy, a Telangana veteran, the committee felt that an explanation should be sought from the leader for having allegedly talked against party president
Sonia Gandhi, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana.
Speaking to the media, Satyanarayana Raju said Jeevan Reddy had been asked to appear before the committee on May 24.
When asked about the similar statements issued by senior leaders such as health minister DL Ravindra Reddy and former textiles minister P Shankar Rao, the chairman said the party was seized of the matter.
“Such statements by certain senior leaders do not augur well for the party. I call upon all the leaders to desist from making such public comments against the party leaders,” Raju said.
Meanwhile, Jeevan Reddy said he was not aware of the charges against him. He, however, said he would certainly appear before the committee and put forth his version on the charges leveled against him.
