Congress working president T Jagga Reddy has demanded that the TRS government come out with a clear-cut plan on what should the farmers cultivate in the ensuing Yasangi season as a large section of farmers lands are suitable only for cultivation of paddy.

"What is the price the government will offer to the alternate crops it is suggesting the farmers to cultivate? There is no clarity and a lot of confusion among the farmers about the crops to be grown in the ensuing Yasangi season,"

Jayaprakash Reddy

said this after extending Rs 2 lakh financial assistance to the family members of tenant farmer

Ramulu

who had died of heart attack on the way to hospital.

Braving the winter chill, Ramulu had waited for days together for his paddy to be procured and suffered a heart attack when finally the officials agreed to procure his paddy, said Jayaprakash Reddy.

He charged both TRS and BJP governments of neglecting the farmers who are even struggling to get gunny bags. "I have come here to meet the bereaved family members of Ramulu to extend financial assistance, this is not to derive political mileage. This is not the constituency I will contest elections from. This is finance minister Harish Rao's constituency and the state government should announce Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia to the family members of Ramulu," he said.
