hyderabad: the anti-corruption bureau on tuesday registered a case of criminal misconduct against a congress mla and three mch officials on charges of tampering with records and raising a multi-storied structure without permission. acb director-general ramavtar yadav said congress mla from kollapur, j krishna rao, who is also the managing director of shaili estates private limited, ameerpet, had manipulated records and collided with the mch town planning staff to raise the multi-storied apartments, royal pavilion, in ameerpet.
the employees against whom action is being initiated include mch divisional city planner v sankaranarayana and section officers m a sattar and mohammad mehmood, according to an official release issued here on tuesday. though the company was permitted to build five floors, it sought permission from the mch to raise two more floors under the building regularisation scheme (brs). even as the brs application was pending, the firm sought government’s permission to construct a total of 11 floors on the premises. before the brs application was cleared, the builder with the active connivance of the mch staff, completed construction of seven floors. the mch had sent mehmood, a section officer, for a physical verification of the building in december 1998. though he found only seven floors, mehmood gave a report stating that nine floors were built and pillars were raised for the 10th floor. the accused officials also failed to collect rs 22.66 lakh from the builder towards the violation fee and tampered with the note files of the case. the acb officials conducted simultaneous raids on the residences of the mla and mch officials sankaranarayana, sattar and mehmood and found incriminating documents relating to the case. at the residence of sankaranarayana, the acb officials found a purchase document of a flat in royal pavilion in the name of his eldest daughter, which was in fact gifted by the builder. meanwhile, while the acb officials were carrying out searches at sankaranarayana’s residence in jubilee hills, they found his son raghukumar in an inebriated condition. according to the release, raghukumar was asked to move out of the house to complete the searches. he went out and suddenly fell unconscious. he was declared dead on admission at apollo hospitals. later, doctors at the gandhi hospital mortuary confirmed that they found snake bite marks on the youth’s left arm and right ankle.
