Congress leaders rally around N Padmavathi Reddy
HYDERABAD: Congress leaders have buried the hatchet and are rallying behind their state president N Uttam Kumar Reddy to ensure the victory of his wife and party candidate N
Telangana Congress working president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy, who had announced his own candidate for Huzurnagar and lodged a complaint against Uttam with AICC general secretary in charge of Telangana RC Khuntia, has decided to campaign for the victory of Padmavathi. Revanth told TOI that he would tour Huzurnagar in mid-October when chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to address a huge public meeting in the assembly constituency.
“There are no differences between me and other leaders. I had suggested the name of a candidate for Huzurnagar just as Uttam had suggested his wife’s name. Ultimately, it is the party high command which takes the final call,” Revanth said.
Senior Congress leaders coming together to work for Padmavathi’s victory has come as a morale booster not only for Padmavathi and Uttam, but also for party cadre in the entire state. Veteran leaders - K Jana Reddy and Damodar Reddy and Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who enjoy a considerable clout among voters in the undivided Nalgonda district, have already participated in a huge rally taken out by Padmavathi when she filed her nomination.
They said they would be campaigning for Padmavathi. CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former minister D Sridhar Babu, TRS working president Ponnam Prabhakar, former Union minister Balram Naik and official spokespersons of TPCC will also campaign in support of Padmavathi. On the possibility of Rahul Gandhi or national leaders coming down to campaign in Huzurnagar, Uttam told TOI that no decision had been taken in this regard.
