When Anitha, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe, went to pay the first semester examination fees at the college, the management refused to accept it unless she paid Rs 5,500 as college development fees.
As she did not have sufficient money to pay the development fee, Anitha then left the college with her certificates. Though Anitha left, the college management, using forged documents, claimed Rs 57,000 as fee reimbursement amount for Anitha from the tribal welfare department.
After a detailed probe, police arrested Vasanth (45) on Tuesday and remanded him in judicial custody. Police were looking into all records of the college to see if they had committed more such frauds.
