HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has once again appealed to the extremists to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream.
“The government is committed to maintain law and order in the state and there is no place for violence in civil society,� he said.
Naidu was addressing a media conference on the occasion of the surrendering of 46 naxalites belonging to the CPI-ML (Janashakti group) naxalites with as many weapons at Jubilee Hall on Sunday.
DGP Pervaram Ramulu and chief secretary P V Rao were also present.
The chief minister announced that the surrendered naxals would get a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh (squad members), Rs 2 lakh (squad commanders/district committee members — DCM) and Rs 3 lakh (district committee secretary — DCS) based on their rank.
Besides the cash rewards, the chief minister also announced that they would be provided with Rs 3 lakh worth funds or material for rehabilitation, a house site, and a house under Indira Awas Yojana scheme.
The surrendered naxals include Janashakti Karimnagar unit DCS Sunkati Sailu alias Ranadheer, DCMs — B Rajamallu alias Mukesh, G Rajam alias Jagan, E Shankar alias Suresh.
The chief minister specially complimented Warangal range DIG Gautam Damodar Sawang, Karimnagar SP Dr R S Praveen Kumar, and OSD N Madhusudhan Reddy for their coordinated efforts, which resulted in the surrenders.
