CM Revanth to launch Bhu Bharati portal & app today
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy will formally launch the Bhu Bharati portal and app on Monday, the Congress govt's ambitious land management project replacing the Dharani portal of the previous BRS govt.
The launch will coincide with the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar.
It will be implemented initially in three selected mandals in Telangana on a pilot basis. Based on the results and feedback from the users, the system will be rolled out in the entire state by June 2, coinciding with the Telangana state formation day.
The CM held a review meeting on Bhu Bharati for the second day on Sunday and directed the officials to ensure that the portal is designed in such a way that even a common farmer understands it. "The portal should be supported by the latest and state-of-the-art technology to be useful for the next 100 years. Firewalls should be set up to prevent security issues. The responsibility of managing Bhu Bharati should be handed over to a trusted organisation," he said.
Later, sharing the details with media persons, revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said, "The Bhu Bharati Act is a fulfilment of the govt's promise to clean up land-related irregularities and ensure ownership protection. It will be a referendum for the govt in the next assembly election".
The minister claimed that unlike the previous govt, which drafted laws hastily and without public input, the Bhu Bharati was shaped through consultations with farmers, intellectuals, and domain experts. "A forensic audit will be conducted into irregularities committed under the earlier Dharani system, ensuring that justice is served and accountability is upheld," the minister reiterated.
The new portal is being developed in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and will not disrupt ongoing land registrations. The minister appealed to the public not to overload the portal by logging in all at once after its launch, warning that such traffic could cause service disruptions.
"Chief minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the police to take strict action against any attempts to deliberately sabotage the portal's functioning," Ponguleti said.
