hyderabad: as rains lashed the city for yet another day on monday, the people had to brave overflowing drains, traffic jams and submerged roads in several areas. though there were no cases of fallen trees or building collapse, the municipal corporation of hyderabad attended to complaints of overflowing drains in banjara hills, jubilee hills, mehdipatnam, khairatabad and mozamjahi market.
the roads at nampally, ameerpet, basheerbagh, dar-ul-shifa and panjagutta had massive traffic jams due to water-logging. the traffic snarls lasted for about 45-minutes. the meteorological office director, c v v bhadram, said the rains were because of a low pressure area across the andhra coast. "this is likely to intensify further and result in widespread rain in the coastal districts and telangana regions in the next 48-hours," bhadram said.
