An exhibition of the archaeological legacy of Israel was inaugurated at the B M Birla Science centre here on Friday.
HYDERABAD: An exhibition of the archaeological legacy of Israel was inaugurated at the B M Birla Science centre here on Friday. The exhibition, organised by Friends of Israel Society, consists of 27 aerial photographs of ancient and historic sites of Israel, showcasing the life and civilisation there over 3000 years. Some of the sites include Belvoir — the fortress which was vital to the security of Jerusalem, Korazim city — with Capernaum to the south and Bethsaida to the east forms the evangelical triangle where Jesus performed most of his miracles and Megiddo — the historic city regarded as one of King Solomon's cities.
"India is a much frequented destination of Israelis and there is need to develop more ties. This exhibition will only further the understanding between the countries,"said David Danieli, ambassador of Israel to India, speaking at the inauguration ceremony.
Discussions were held with the chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and tourism minister, J Geetha Reddy to promote scientific and technical collaborations between AP and Israel, he said. The remains of many ancient towns, synagogues as well as a vast secular and literary heritage created by the Jews is a testimony to their presence despite being invaded several times. Agriculture minister N Raghuveera Reddy, the chief guest said scientific, cultural and defence relations between the two countries are growing and there is scope for more.
