Hyderabad: Vemulawada
MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh on Tuesday informed the high court that he conveyed to the German authorities about his intention to relinquish his German citizenship. He reacquired his Indian passport and citizenship in 2009.
Ramesh’s counsel Y Rama Rao said that German officials had already clarified that all those who possess German passports were not that country’s citizens.
The central government, which cancelled the Indian citizenship of the MLA on grounds of suppressing required information while applying for Indian citizenship in 2009, sought time to file its counter. Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili posted the case to two weeks for taking up final hearing. tnn
