HYDERABAD: Bhavaninagar area hospital has no drinking water facility for the last six years and the hospital staff has been managing by collecting drinking water from local residents.
The health centre has the latest equipment but not enough drugs and vaccines to meet the requirements.
This is mainly because the area is densely populated. The community hall that was converted into area hospital in 1998 has been catering over 5,000 residents of Amanagar A/B blocks, Bhavaninagar, Talabkatta, Moghalpura and surrounding areas.
Though there was a borewell in the health centre but pump was stolen five years ago.
The health centre has not been provided with drinking water connection by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board since its establishment. The water and the sewerage lines of the centre are completely damaged and cannot be used.
During the last six years, several representations were given to the authorities concerned but they failed to provide water connection, an staff said.
The centre has one medical officer, four health officers two sweepers and a private watchman.
The gate of the health centre is rusty and large portions are missing making it easy for the street dogs to enter the premises and in some instances the dogs entered right into the centre the employee said.
Hospital lacks of telephone facility and the drugs are not supplied regularly, Nazeer one of the patient said. The class IV employees of the centre have not been given salaries for the last 14 months.
We have to request the residents for drinking water and then carry the water all the way from Murad Mahal, one of the employee said.
The doctor and the health officers treat very well but the main problem is that the surrounding areas of Bhavaninagar are densely populated and the patients have to wait in the queue for long.
