Choose Congress for development, reject communal politics of AIMIM and BJP in old city: Hyderabad candidate Sameer Waliullah
HYDERABAD: Congress candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency Mohammed Sameer Waliullah on Saturday called upon the people to choose development being proposed by the Congress and reject communal and divisive politics of the AIMIM and BJP.
“After interacting with the people during the door-to-door campaign, we have realised that the people of the old city are yearning for a change but are living in a state of fear. They also acknowledged that misguided political leadership is the cause of their backwardness. But the AIMIM and BJP have fostered an atmosphere where people feel compelled to align with these political entities. If you are Muslim, you're expected to support AIMIM; if you're Hindu, you're expected to side with the BJP. Those not supporting these parties face intimidation and harassment from local leaders and their associates. The Congress seeks to reverse this trend,” Sameer said.
He exuded confidence that the Congress campaign has successfully initiated a wave of positive change in the old city of Hyderabad. "Throughout our campaign, we held public meetings, door-to-door visits, bike rallies, staged roadshows and interacted with the people. We explained to them the Congress election manifesto promises and convinced them to vote for a change,” he said.
Sameer also highlighted that a majority of old city residents expressed concern over the negative portrayal of 'Purana Shaher' (old city) and they wanted this to change for the better. Sameer pledged to petition chief minister A Revanth Reddy to introduce a micro-financing scheme through a government department for the impoverished residents of this p[art of the city.
The Congress candidate said hundreds of families had temporarily relocated to the new city for various reasons including matrimonial purposes. “The residents of the Old City should utilise this opportunity to transform their lives and secure a better future for their children by voting to victory in the Congress. Even the minimum discussion by AIMIM and BJP on the development front is a result of the positive campaign by the Congress,” he added.
Asserting that the INDIA coalition was poised to form the next govt at the centre, with Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister, he urged the people to elect the Congress candidate to get central funds for development.
