HYDERABAD: Six Chiranjeevi fans involved in the attack on film actor Rajasekhar and his family at Punjagutta on January 28 were remanded to judicial custody till February 5 . The six-Gandam Pallam Raju, Gangineni Ganesh, Mancham Rammohan, Sunkeri Krishna and Tadi Suresh-were produced before the XIV additional chief metropolitan magistrate by the Punjagutta police.
The other accused Rayapu Reddy Suri Babu alias Raja, Yatnam Nagesh Babu, Boram Venugopal Naidu and Srinivas are absconding. Later in the day, the absconding accused filed an anticipatory bail plea before the metropolitan sessions judge, Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has asked the Punjagutta assistant commissioner of police to file a report on the security provided to Rajasekhar on the day the incident took place. Based on a fax sent by a person named S Raju about the incident, the State Human Rights Commission took up the matter on Thursday and asked the ACP to file a report. The ACP reportedly sent a report to the SHRC on Friday but the commission was not content with it. the SHRC chairperson asked the police to file another detailed report by February 5.
