Though the new government has not taken charge with consensus eluding in Congress over the chief ministerial candidate, Telangana is already witnessing an administrative shake-up. T Prabhakar Rao, OSD, Special Intelligence Branch, Telangana police, submitted his resignation on Monday.

Telangana State Transco and Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, advisor to the government KV Ramana Chary and Task Force OSD P Radha Kishan Rao have also resigned. The Election Commission has already appointed senior IPS Ravi Gupta as DGP (full additional charge) after suspending Anjani Kumar on Sunday for violation of model code of conduct when he met Telangana Congress chief A Revanth Reddy soon after counting of votes started.

Ex-IPS Prabhakar, who retired three years ago, continued in police department due to his close association with KCR. Revanth, who is a strong contender for CM post, had previously accused Prabhakar of unauthorised surveillance and phone tapping on opposition leaders and warned him of consequences if Congress came to power.

In his resignation letter, Transco CMD Prabhakar Rao Rao said Genco director Aindala Ajay will look after Genco functioning, while C Srinivas Rao, joint MD of Transco, will look after the corporation's work. It may be recalled KCR government was often giving credit to Prabhakar Rao for ensuring 24-hour power supply in state.

Revanth had earlier criticised Prabhakar Rao for alleged irregularities in the power purchase agreement. Revanth even alleged that Prabhakar Rao was not an IAS officer and was not qualified to hold such an important position but KCR gave him the post.

Retired IAS officer and advisor Ramana Chary has also submitted his resignation. Ramana Chary had previously worked as executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. After taking voluntary retirement in 2012, he joined the BRS in 2014.

Radha Kishan, who was transferred by the EC on allegations of siding with BRS in October, has also resigned. Radha Kishan has been serving as OSD in the Task Force for the last four years after his retirement. The state government had extended his services for the second time this year. Revanth had earlier accused Radha Kishan of alleged abuse of power during BRS regime.
