HYDERABAD: Four months after the Supreme Court collegium's recommendation, the central government on Thursday notified the transfer of two judges - one each from high courts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh - to the Madras high court.

The Union law ministry, through its notification released on Thursday, has asked Justice D Nagarjun from Telangana HC and Justice Battu Devanand of AP HC to assume charge in Madras HC.

In fact, the November 2022 recommendation of the SC collegium had asked the Centre to transfer five judges from both the high courts. While two transfers have been notified now, there is no word on the remaining three.

The collegium had recommended the transfer of Justice A Abhishek Reddy and Justice K Lalitha from Telangana HC to Patna and Karnataka high courts respectively, while Justice D Ramesh of AP HC was sent to Allahabad high court.
