Hyderabad: Commemorating the 12-day birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya, ‘Ramanujacharya Sahasrabdi Samaroham’ began in Muchintal ashram, near

Shamshabad

on Wednesday.
The celebrations which kicked off with the chanting of ashtakshari will be held for 12 days until February 14 in the presence of more than 5000 rutviks.
People from across the city turned up to the venue to immerse in the spirituality.
Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar led shobha yatra from the divya saketham temple to the yaga sala with grandeur in a ceremonial procession. A total of seven senior jeeyar and hundreds of rutviks take part in shobha yatra.
Thousands of devotees recited slogans, performed bhajans and hundreds of artists performed cultural programmes during the shobha yatra. Chinna Jeeyar held vasthu pooja and punyhavachanam at yaga shala. Nearly 5,000 rutviks performed maha yajna with 1,035 yaaga kundas (the ritual pits) located at 144 homashalas. This maha yajna will continue for the next fourteen days at the venue.
