Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation has written to the ministry of finance asking to prosecute GST official Bollieni Gandhi and IRS official Ch Sudha Rani in connection with the disproportionate and the bribery cases. Sources said the ministry of finance is yet to give the nod. CBI will file a charge sheet against the two officials after getting prosecution permission from the ministry.
CBI arrested GST official Bollineni Gandhi in the Disproportionate Assets on April 20, 2021. He was arrested after he refused to cooperate. CBI investigation found that Gandhi’s wife was running a consultancy service. However, all the clients were transacting with Gandhi himself via email and in person. Several of them have given witness to the CBI, stating that it was with Gandhi they were transacting. Interestingly, these services are pertaining to the Enforcement Directorate case while he was working there as assistant director.
CBI, in July 2019, unearthed 4 crore worth of assets of Gandhi in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Gandhi was involved in another case along with another GST official Chilaka Sudha Rani in a 5 crore bribery scandal. CBI alleged the accused had submitted fake COVID-19 positive reports in the name of his family member.
Despite being in suspension period, Gandhi has been recently promoted from superintendent to assistant commissioner on an adhoc basis by the ministry of finance and he was posted to Hyderabad. In the bribery case, CBI issued FIR on September 11 2019 based on the complaint filed by bribe giver

Satya Sidhar Reddy

, JN director of Bharani Commodities.
Sudha Rani, the then deputy commissioner of GST, and Gandhi detected a fake invoice fraud where 1,289 crore was raised and around 224 crore illegal input tax credit involving eight companies was linked to Sridhar Reddy and others.
