I was at the wheel. The Fortuner was speeding on the other side of the median and we were cruising at 100kmph. Around 6.00am, I noticed the SUV flipping in the air. I quickly steered away. Despite that, the vehicle hit us on the right and landed upside down.”
“We jumped out of the car and found two of us injured. Two people were trying to wriggle out of the SUV. There was no one in the driver’s seat and the door was missing,” he added.
“Locals were searching for the SUV’s driver. A little later, they found the actorpolitician nearby. Within 10 minutes an ambulance arrived at the accident spot and spirited away the injured,” Shiva Kumar added.
Gurram Kapeshwar, 18, a resident of Peddapalli in
Karimnagar, was travelling in the Corolla and suffered injuries. “All of us are photographers. We were returning after a wedding shoot in Nellore. I was asleep in the rear seat and woke up to a huge sound. As I was injured, police shifted me, Praveen and Harikrishna in the same ambulance to Kamineni Hospital in Narkeptally. I didn’t see Harikrishna as I was in a state of shock. Praveen suffered serious injuries,” Kapeshwar said.
Harikrishna was not wearing a seat belt. The car flew 15-20 feet into the air and he was thrown 20-25 metres away from the accident site, Nalgonda superintendent of police (SP) A V Ranganath said. Police denied allegations about delay in shifting the injured to hospital.
