SECUNDERABAD: L&T Metro Rail will soon get a piece of prime land spanning 1,735 square yards behind Ganesh Temple, in Secunderabad Cantonment, for paid parking at the JBS metro station.
In May, the chief strategy officer of L&T Metro Rail approached SCB officials and urged the allotment of Cantonment land.
During Thursday's Board meeting, Brigadier K Somashankar chaired and cleared the proposal for land allotment in Secunderabad. The CEO of SCB, D Madhukar Naik, explained the reason for the land allotment, while J Rama Krishna, a civilian nominated member of SCB, also approved the decision to give the land to Metro Rail.
CEO Madhukar said the vendor would sign an agreement with the SCB regarding the terms and conditions soon. The parking facility will operate commuter-friendly, adhering to the metro's hours of operation.
Starting in September, residents of Secunderabad Cantonment receiving 20-KL of free water supply will receive monthly water bills if their consumption exceeds the limit. The bills will follow the HMWS&SB tariff, just like how consumers in GHMC receive their invoices from HMWS&SB.
The SCB passed the resolution in the presence of a civilian member and an SCB representative.
