HYDERABAD: Depressed over his deteriorating health, a 32-year-old tailor ended his life by jumping from the sixth floor of a private hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for cancer, in Nampally on Tuesday.
According to the Abids police, the victim, Mohd Shahdullah, a native of Medak district and a tailor by profession, was suffering from cancer for the past one year.

At around 9.30 am on Tuesday, Shahdullah jumped from the open window of the sixth floor of the private hospital even as his wife and mother were watching his movements, Abids sub-inspector of police T Venugopal said. The SI said the hospital staff tried to stop him, but he managed to escape from their clutches and jumped from the window.
Private security personnel of the hospital spotted Shahdullah in a pool of blood and shifted him to the casualty ward, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Shahdullah is survived by his wife and three children.
Before landing at the private hospital in Nampally, he had been undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC.
