Brief rain brings relief, temperatures set to surge again in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Parts of Telangana experienced brief but widespread heat-induced showers on Tuesday, offering short-lived respite from soaring temperatures across the state.Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed moderate rainfall between 8:30 am and 6 pm in several districts. Rangareddy district recorded the highest precipitation, with Chandanavelly in Shabad mandal receiving 37 mm, followed by 35 mm in Kethireddipalli, Moinabad. In Vikarabad, Puttapahad logged 26.3 mm, while Sircilla (IDOC) in Rajanna Sircilla district recorded 22.3 mm.Other areas, including Kasulabad (22 mm) in Rangareddy, Kondapak (21 mm) in Siddipet, and Chowdapur (20 mm) in Vikarabad, also reported notable rainfall. Light to moderate showers were observed across parts of Sangareddy, Siddipet, and Mancherial. In Hyderabad, rainfall remained largely light and scattered. Cherlapalli in Kapra recorded the highest in the city at 6.5 mm, followed by Dr AS Rao Nagar (4.5 mm). Neredmet, Kukatpally, Alwal, and Jeedimetla recorded between 2 mm and 3.5 mm.Meteorologists attributed the activity to intense surface heating triggering localised convection typical of pre-monsoon conditions. However, the relief is expected to be temporary, with heatwave conditions likely to intensify over the coming days, especially in north and east Telangana. The India Meteorological Department said, "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds is very likely at isolated places in Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Mahabubnagar districts."
