According to police, around 1 a.m. on Thursday, the Hyderabad police control room received a call claiming that a bomb had been planted in a hotel opposite Secunderabad railway station. The call was immediately forwarded to the Gopalapuram police station, and all relevant security teams were alerted.

Multiple teams from Hyderabad and state police, along with a dog squad, swiftly conducted a thorough search of the multi-storeyed hotel and its surroundings. After an extensive check, authorities confirmed it was a false alarm. The caller was subsequently identified.

Police stated that the caller, a homeless man from Peddapalli district, was residing in Abids and survived by begging.

Due to his health condition, his wife abandoned him, and his mental state deteriorated further following his mother’s death a few months ago. He had previously made similar hoax calls and had been counseled by the police.

"He also used to spread fake messages claiming that a relative had died," a police official said.
