Bolarum residents flag 15-year neglect of Doveton Road
Hyderabad: Residents of ward No. 8 in Bolarum have lodged a formal complaint alleging that the Secunderabad Cantonment Board has neglected a key stretch of Doveton Road for over 15 years. In a representation sent to senior defence and govt authorities, residents said the portion of the road near the Shiva temple has deteriorated badly, turning into what they described as an ‘urban ravine'. They warned that the damaged stretch poses serious risks to daily commuters, senior citizens and devotees visiting the temple.

According to the complaint, no road laying or maintenance work has been undertaken for more than a decade-and-a-half, despite repeated representations over the past ten months. Residents alleged that there has been no response from engineering officials, no site inspection and no clarity on budget allocation or utilisation for public works in the area. The residents pointed out that under section 62 of the Cantonments Act, 2006, the board is mandated to maintain public streets, drains and civic infrastructure. They also cited Article 21 of the Constitution, arguing that poor road conditions compromise their fundamental right to a safe and secure environment.
The complainants have sought an immediate joint site inspection by the CEO's office and the local military authority. They have also demanded that the road be included in the emergency works list for 2026-27 and asked for a written explanation for the prolonged inaction.
