BJP will scrap quotas if it wins: Uttam Kumar Reddy

HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said if Narendra Modi is elected PM for third time, India’s democracy could be in jeopardy.

Addressing meetings in Mothe, Nadigudem, Munagala and Kodad in Suryapet on Thursday in support of Nalgonda Congress’ K Raghuveera Reddy, Uttam slammed Modi’s remarks during his recent visit to Sangareddy, saying that the PM had failed to clearly state that if elected, the BJP would not modify the Constitution.

He said the BJP and RSS have been expressing their opposition to SC, ST reservations and that there is always the risk that if the BJP wins power again, it will abolish the quota system.

“The Constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar is the spirit of democracy, which Modi has violated multiple times in last ten years by enacting controversial laws,” Uttam said.
