BJP using Lord Rama for votes and power: CM A Revanth Reddy

HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday criticised BJP leaders for seeking votes in the name of religion, calling them “artificial Hindus” who use gods for political gain. “Are we not Hindus? We also pray to local deities like Yellamma, Pochamma, Maisamma,” Revanth said, questioning BJP's approach.

Speaking at meetings in Tukkuguda and Shamshabad, he accused the BJP of using Lord Rama and Hanuman Jayanti as tools for power and votes, unlike his party which values genuine devotion.

Revanth challenged BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy and Konda Vishveshwar Reddy to prove they distributed sacred rice (akshintalu) in villages after Lord Rama’s marriage ceremony in Ayodhya temple. He accused them of cheating by possibly mixing turmeric powder with ration rice for votes.

He also criticised the BRS for exploiting Telangana Talli sentiment for political gain, and condemned the BJP-led central government's handling of issues related to SCs, STs, BCs, and the unemployed. Revanth called the election a fight to save the constitution and protect reservations, accusing the BJP of planning to eliminate them.

Revanth alleged the BJP should be called the “British Janatha Party” for their reservation policies. In a promise to voters, Revanth pledged to establish a medical college in Kandukur and bring Godavari waters to Shamshabad if Congress candidate G Ranjith Reddy is elected. “It is my responsibility,” he said.
